Helena H. Dyer Elementary School is one of five elementary schools in the South Portland School District. Dyer contains students in grades K-5 and will have an enrollment of approximately 275 students this school year.

With a Responsive Classroom Approach to managing our classrooms and school, we recognize that there is a social, as well as academic curriculum, inherent to what we do each day. Daily morning meetings, collaboratively developing rules and expectations, and sharing accountability for solving problems are components of this approach.
Daily School Schedule:
Drop off is to the playground, rain or shine.
8:30 Supervision on playground (or in gymnasium if inclement weather)
8:45 Bell rings for students to enter the building
9:00 Instruction begins
11:20 – 11:45 Grade 4-5 Recess 11:45 – 12:10 Grade 4-5 Lunch
11:45 – 12:10 K-1 Recess 12:10 – 12:35 K-1 Lunch
12:10 – 12:35 Grade 2-3 Recess 12:35 – 1:00 Grade 2-3 Lunch
3:00 School Dismissal
K-2 students are dismissed at the playground end of the building.
3-5 students are dismissed out the front of the building.
